X.3456.-RE RADIATORS FOR CARS. X.2631. We find on the round tube radiator on 49GB that a large number of the tubes have collapsed. We are sending samples of these to Mr. Royce as we consider it is very serious. The radiator on 49GB has been fitted to the car for four years. Although the car has not done much running, water has been standing in it most of the time. It is rather difficult to account for the tubes collapsing; one might suggest it was due to the suction of the pump. The tubes that have collapsed all appear to be in the bottom hlaf of the radiator. We measured up a number of the tubes and find them to be on an average 3 to 5 thous. thick. We are going to ask the manufacturers if they can give any reason for the tubes going in this way. There were some leaks in this radiator where some of the tubes had collapsed. We find the tubes in this radiator are made of copper whereas the other radiators of this type which we examined had brass tubes. EH. | ||
