PHANTOM SPORTS.
DAMPER ETC - ROUGHNESS
AND VERY HIGH REVS.

---

G.1. DAMPER. We are putting on the G.1. type of damper.

FIBRE. We want to use red or grey vulcanised fibre in damper if we use thin fibre 1/16" thick or less, because if this is soaked in water it swells 40%, and we are allowing ample clearance for any swelling that is likely to take place if the thickness is not over .065. Mr. Nadin also tells me that in USA. they do not find our slipper wheels satisfactory with bakelite in any form: I believe they are right.

CRANKSHAFT. Examining this in the light of aero engine work (RR.F. engine for instance) we have decided to reduce the dia. of the crankpins, webs, etc., and make a considerable reduction in the out of balance load: oil drilling will be special.

E's drg. LeC.2462 shews the above (leaving here tomorrow).

We are following on with lighter piston and conn. rod.
