[Handwritten in red ink:] H Slevy [Stamped:] SEP 30 1940 [Handwritten in pencil:] to Mch An [Stamped:] RECEIVED 26 Manor Road, Taunton. September 26th 1940. The Secretary, Messrs. Rolls Royce, Ltd., Nightingale Road, DERBY Dear Sir, I am engaged on the investigation of a proposition which, it is believed, will be of considerable interest to the Motor Industry and of some assistance, too, especially at this time, to the motorized units of the Armed Forces and of the Civil Defence Services. To complete this investigation, I have, unfortunately, to approach the leading Car Manufacturers for details of the Wheel Studs or Wheel Bolts fitted to their products, as set out in the accompanying table of which I beg to attach three copies hereto. I would hesitate to trouble you, particularly at the present time, if the information sought were at all as readily available from any other source or if it were not for the help that it is believed the proposition will be to the motorized units mentioned. If you could kindly indicate, however, any publication from which these details can be obtained, I should be extremely grateful if you would very kindly do so; otherwise, may I ask if you would be so good as to arrange for the completion of the enclosed and for its return to me as soon as the details can conveniently be furnished? I beg to attach stamp to cover postage on your kind reply and should be very pleased indeed to learn whether you would care to make some small charge to cover cost of work entailed. Awaiting the favour of your reply and sincerely trusting that you will very kindly be able to assist me in the manner indicated, I beg to remain, Sir, Yours faithfully, [Signature] J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} R.{Sir Henry Royce} ROBERTS. | ||
