Bentley Car 5-B-IV.

Replying to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}1/E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 27.2.35.

Owing to concentrating our efforts on getting a second SpectreCodename for Phantom III car on the road we are definitely going to be behind with 5-B-IV. We are making use of the delay to try and get centrally mounted wings and radiator on the car.

With regard to the improved lubricating oil, we are running narrow pin connecting rods for the first time on this car and in order to get a value for them it is necessary that we should use an oil with which we are familiar; otherwise if they fail we do not know whether it is the bearings or the oil. For this reason we shall probably use Castrol 'XL' or Mobiloil 'D'.
