OUR REF. CWW/GC.

9th January, 1940.

Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

We acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 5th inst., and have duly noted your concern with regard to the weights of the boot lids.

As requested, we are going into the question of reducing as much as possible the weight of the boot lid{A. J. Lidsey} on the Ripplet body.

So soon as you are in a position to send 4-B-50 to us, we shall be pleased to go into the question of reducing the weight of the boot lid{A. J. Lidsey} on this body also.

Experiments are being proceeded with in connection with 9-B-V in an effort to reduce the weight of the lid{A. J. Lidsey} to the absolute minimum, and when you have had an opportunity of testing out this lid{A. J. Lidsey} we would much appreciate your observations in the matter.

We take this opportunity of acknowledging with thanks your tabulated list of Body Lid{A. J. Lidsey} Weights, which we assure you we find very interesting, and we look forward to receiving the Buick lid{A. J. Lidsey}, which will doubtless be of assistance to us in this connection.

Yours sincerely,
For PARK WARD & CO LTD.

Works Director.
