GEAR CONTROL.

We send herewith M.sch.3498., which shews modifications to the gear lever shaft for the 25HP. to prevent binding sideways, and to reduce bearing surface oil drag.

The use of a spherical bearing at the outer end eliminates the possibility of binding at the worse end without increasing the size and weight of the parts.

Centralising springs have been placed inside the shaft, and although of reduced dimensions, give a much lower maximum load.

The pendulum lever is to be hydraulically pressed on.
Our drawing may not shew the clearance between gear lever, frame, and floorboards, correctly, as we have no recent production drawings, but in any case no alteration from standard is intended.

The gate should be made of B2/S. unless actual experience with the 25HP. S.M. gearbox has shewn the need for S/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore}

Will Derby kindly adapt this scheme to Peregrine, J.3., and Phantom. The shaft size and lever strength should be kept the same for all cars.
