GEARBOX.

[Handwritten annotation over text: RAH]

You will note that we have been troubled by jumping out of third gear on the over-run, which has developed.

We have fitted the stronger selector spring but this makes the change objectionably heavy. The gear now comes out at 55 m.p.h. on retard from 70 m.p h.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} and at 20 m.p.h. on retard from 60 m.p.h. If the throttle is opened at any time before the gear has come right out, it pulls straight back into full engagement.

We think that the box has become a little more noisy, and second is now uneven on the over-run.
