Ph.III Petrol Filter on 2nd X Member. In reply to L.1/HP.10.2.36. The above filter LeC.4721 has been tested out as far as possible and has so far given no trouble. The filter will pass well in excess of 200 pints/hr. which is ample for any of our present car engines and is free from leakage. This is a slight modification necessary to the cap retaining stud. This we referred to in memo. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Dwg.11/KM.20.1.36. in which we called for a longer stud. The filter is very much more accessible than the present standard mounted in a similar position. The following cars are at present fitted with filter LeC.4721. 32-EX. 21-G-IV. 22-G-V.{VIENNA} 6-B-IV. E-56-BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Under Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}18/KM.7.1.36. it was pointed out that this filter could be manufactured more cheaply by Enots than by RR. Attached are sketches referred to by Enots showing modifications necessary for the filter body to be made a pressing. These we attach as you may not have examined them. It will be noticed in sketch "A" they show the cork washer retained by slightly peening the cap edges. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} Bowering. | ||
