Dear Robotham,

The experimental lamps for your post-war job are now ready and I am arranging to have them sent down for your comments. I must say I am a little disappointed at their general appearance but they seem to be pretty close to your drawings and before making any alterations I thought it would be a good idea to send them on to test your reactions. The front rim does not seem to blend quite into the body in a manner which is pleasing although, of course, this may be associated with the fact that the body is finished in dull colour which we know from experience is apt to be most disappointing.

I think before any final decision with regard to shape is made it would be a good idea to have them sprayed bright but I did not do this before sending them in case you have a mok-up car of any particular colour on which you want to try them.

I must also apologise for the reflectors not being of the striped variety as it is practically impossible to make them without proper tools and we could not cut down an R.100 reflector as it is of too great a focal length.

We have taken the liberty of making up a fog lamp in rather larger size than the one you indicated because we could not get what seemed to us a satisfactory optical arrangement with the limited diameter you showed. The model we have made up utilises an existing reflector which will be helpful when the cost angle eventually has to be
