Contd. -2- EFC3/T14.1.28. carbon contacts to accommodate this. It would appear that the carbon contacts provided with the electrical interlock were not necessary. There is, with the mechanical interlock, a very short period of time during which the main switch armature is moving over during which only the B. circuit is in operation, and we are as no doubt has been observed, dependent upon the inertia of the motor armature to keep it for this short period of time in such a position that the motor armature operated contacts in the main switch magnet circuit are held in contact.
