Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Hal/LC30.8.21. "GOSHAWK 11" X4219 Dashboard. The dashboard instructed for this chassis is very frail. This makes it very difficult to be able to make a nice fit of the bonnet. If anybody leans on the corner of the dashboard it takes a permanent set. In fact, on the experimental car, the angle piece which goes on the inside of the bonnet and carries the Ferodo strip, has been broken through because of it being bent backwards and forwards so many times. This angle is very weak where the slots are cut out. We are of the opinion that a plain sheet of thick aluminium similar to the 40/50 would be the cheapest and most successful job. Controls on Steering Column. The controls on the steering column with Klaxon Switch make a very neat job but there are no stops to prevent the levers over-running the quadrant. Brake Lever. When the knob of the brake lever is pressed right down the back-side of the paul catches on the ratchet. We think there should be some stop to prevent this. Universal joint oil plug. It is possible to bolt the cover of the universal joints in such a position that the oil plug comes opposite the solid portion of the joint so that no oil can be put in. Mounting for radiator. If the rubber strip under the radiator happens to be the least bit thick, the gusset plate which carries the radiator, deflects. We suggest that we require less area of rubber, perhaps two small pads. Bonnet. We like the new bonnet clips very much. They are a great improvement over anything we have had previously, but we think the bonnet still requires the tongues on the inside. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
