No. Y3486 2764 REF. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG15. 8. 23. OBJECT OF TEST. To find cause and cure for failure of Exhaust Valves on post-war 40/50 H.P. cars. TESTER. A.{Mr Adams} C. Lovesey. CONDITIONS. Tests carried out on engine bench with standard 40/50 H.P. engine. SUMMARY OF TEST. A number of Exhaust Valves have failed on post-war cars. We have no record of similar failures on pre-war cars. Tests show the reason why the pre-war valve is free from trouble is because the stem elongates only .0015" under full power compared with .009" on the post-war type valve under similar conditions. We recommend we revert to the pre-war shape of Valve. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
