REVISED STEERING BOX MOUNTING.
SENIOR RANGE.

At the request of Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/FJH.{Fred J. Hardy - Chief Dev. Engineer} we have made a revised steering box mounting which deletes the rather unsatisfactory forging.

On PL.120 of which we enclose two prints we show the new design applied to the left hand steering column.

It will be seen the only modification necessary to the existing right hand and left hand steering column is the new steering box casing.

The whole of the interior remains unchanged.

At the moment on the Senior Range, forgetting Silver Dawn we have only 2 angles to steering columns namely that of the B.V. and that of the Silver Phantom.

To accommodate this change of angle the plate on the inside of the frame is merely turned round in the plan view.

This applies to both right and left hand designs.

We are asking Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/HH. to detail such a box for both the right and left hand cars of the senior range and to let this design supercede that already in existence. The large fixing bolts between the box and the plate are to ensure a hold by friction only.

We have ascertained that nothing on PL.120 interferes with anything we have done in the way of engine controls.

Enclosed 4 copies of memo.
2 prints of PL.120.
