X.3500 - RE DELAGE CAR

We have had this car on the road again and it is now running quite nicely. it has not got the vim one would like, but this appears to be due to the top gear being too high. We expect to be able to send this car to Mr. Royce about the 25th. or 26th inst. We are arranging for Hancock to take it down.

Below are some further particulars of this car:-

Bore 66mm. Stroke. 130 mm.

Swept volume of cylinder. 26.6 cu.ins.
Capacity of Combustion Chamber. 8 cu.ins.
Compression Ratio. 4.3 to 1

Valve Timing.
Inlet Open. 14° before top dead centre.
Inlet closed. 57° past bottom dead centre.
Exhaust open. 58° before bottom dead centre.
Exhaust closed. 20° past top dead centre.

Magneto.timing. 20° early - no advance and retard.

Clearance in tappets. .010"
Dia. of valves. 1.375"
Lift of valves. .275" (with no clearance.).
Angle of valves seats. 35°

Carburetter - Twin Claudel-Hobson with diffuser jet.
dia. of throat 20 mm.

Induction pipe cast in cylinder-block 1.125 dia.

Back axle ratio. 3.84 to 1.

Gear Ratios.
4th. 1 to 1
3rd. 1.55 to 1
2nd. 2.55 to 1
1st. 3.62 to 1.
