SPECIFICATION OF COACHWORK FOR 12.B.5. Close Coupled Coupé - Short Wheelbase Bentley. Chassis. B.5. Type Short Wheelbase Bentley chassis - for all drawings see appendix supplied. Untermishable finish. One spare wheel on the off-side, wheels 16 x 6.5 Dunlop wire. Body. Close Coupled Coupé - see PD. 331. Shell Construction. Wood and Aluminium in general. Special attention to be paid to the bending and torsional rigidity of the bottom sides to make this as great as possible. We suggest they may be large box section sheet steel and have shewn not-cut-through doors to increase the section. Steel scuttle. Front Wings. Alum. S.W.G.16 as drawn on PD.206, and without running boards - Front apron to be supplied by coachbuilder. Rear Wings. Alum. S.W.G.16. Carried entirely on the rear wheelarch. Petrol filler in nearside rear wing. Stone Shields. Of latest approved pattern. Doors. To be as thin as possible, and hinged at the rear - Hinges to be external with stainless steel pins. The hinges must be powerful and rigid to enable the door to brace the opening. Top and bottom Silent Travel Locks to the doors - (obtained from Paris). Offside door interior handle on lock spindle, nearside with remote control. Quicklift control to window of driver's door. Lancegaye glass, 3/16" to both doors. -Contd- | ||
