EXPERIMENTAL REPORT.

c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} NOISE FROM DISCS FOR WIRE WHEELS. X1761

Our Test Dept. have been able to prove to a number of customers and also to the Sales Dept. that removing the discs from wire wheels on certain cars which were complained of for noise, they were able to affect considerable improvement. It is not suggested that the discs are the cause of the noise. What has been proved, is that they amplify certain noises.

Some customers, after they have been convinced of the increase in noise with the discs fitted, have preferred to retain them rather than put up with the difficulty of cleaning wire wheels.

A disadvantage with discs fitted to wire wheels is that the spokes are liable to become very rusty.
