X570 Extract from Wa{Mr Wallis}/876/L 8713. Petrol Tank Guards. X.553 It is absolutely essential with the extra petrol tanks to protect the front end of them, we had one tank burst there with a stone and all of the others were badly dinged there. One of the wood protectors we fitted was split by a stone. We never found dinges anywhere else on the tanks. [Faint text at bottom, upside down:] R.R. 235 (20 H) XX (H) 791. 20.5.13) G 4420.
