re Mr.Nadin's Visit -
40/50 Chassis.

Some discussions arose about altering the present 40/50 chassis, such as lowering the frame and adapting it for the new Hypoid bevel gear.

I strongly recommended Springfield to await the chassis developments which we had in hand, (a print of the third and ultra chassis will be available in a few days: EAC 1. on the road, EAC.7 being constructed,) in which we were now embodying all the requirements he mentioned, and those we had learnt during recent years. They would include:-

(1) A still lower frame.
(2) Longer front springs (there are 45 in. and 48 in. being tested.)
(3) Greater front axle bump.
(4) Lower front springs.
(5) Lower centre of gravity.
(6) Centre of gravity further back.
(7) Parallel control of the back axle by 66 in. or 72 in. rear springs (both being tested).
(8) Spare wheel at the back.
(9) Lighter back axle (arranged for hypoid gear).
(10) Smaller gearbox.
(11) Front road springs under the axle.
(12) New back brakes.
(13) Engine and all parts reduced in weight and pushed back.

This is a complete and wholehearted move to get a better chassis. It would be an improved and glorified 20 HP., which has proved to have such superior riding, and other valuable qualities.
