lessen piston knocks. We believe that with the longer skirt piston and extra oil this complaint should be practically cured.

(2) Brake Squeaks.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has received a report from Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} There have been six customers cars fitted with the anti-squeak brakes, the first in Oct.1930. They have not received any complaint from the Owners. PN.{Mr Northey} reported that he does not know of any car so fitted, squeaking. A report has been received from N. stating that they have received no complaints and Owners are very pleased with the change. There are at the present moment 40 chassis in stock. The cost to change over would be £6.13.11 as per G/Rb.{R. Bowen}3/CA/57A6/BJ.28.4.31., making a total of £267.10.8. Since we have received satisfactory reports from all depots and R.{Sir Henry Royce} we recommend no more cars should be sent away without the latest brake shoes.

(3) Clutch.

We are certain the present clutch will fail if used excessively. Expl. Dept recommend that all clutches should be modified. We have obtained the information from the Test Dept that at the present moment there are 39 chassis in stock with the old type clutch material fitted. The cost per chassis would be £2.1.3d as per G/Rb.{R. Bowen}6/57A6/BJ.17.4.31. The total amount being £80.8.9d.

(4) Front Shock Dampers which affect steering.

We recommend that the oiling scheme - N.sch.3244 for the link joint on the front shock damper be fitted. There are now 40 chassis. The cost per chassis will be 3s.10d as per G/Rb.{R. Bowen}2/N/57A6/BJ.25.4.31. The total cost £7.13.4. It will cure troubles of knocking due to wear of the pin. The prices given do not include Burden.

(5) H.T. Wires.

We do not recommend changing the H.T.Magneto tube as the complaints do not warrant it. To change over the tubes the cost per chassis would be 16s.5d as per G/Rb.{R. Bowen}14/CA/57A6/BJ 28.4.31. The total cost £32.16.8d.
