Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}12/KW30.12.31. - 2 - £25. When a customer to-day proposes to fit a rather sporting Saloon body on a 25 h.p. chassis we suggest to him, in the interests of the car's appearance and its general comfort, that he might like to have an F.{Mr Friese} column, and if he agrees erection particulars are accordingly sent to the Works to that effect. Here our responsibility for the chassis specification ends, and in view of what Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} says in his memo attached it would appear that possibly the Works have decided, in view of our request for an F.{Mr Friese} column for a light Saloon body, that the car may be used for speed work and that therefore stiffer springs and additional shock absorbers are necessary. I think I can safely say that we have not influenced that idea from here, and that in most cases now - if not all - standard springing and shock absorbers should be all right so long as the car rides properly at the maximum speed of which it is capable, and at the same time is passably good at low speeds. Provided it will do that we require no departure from standard in regard to springing and shock absorbers on Special Touring Saloon chassis. Enc. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/MJ19.12.31.
