Will you please note that we hope to get the following modifications on this car before it goes to France. It is proposed that the car shall leave Derby on Saturday Nov.5th. DETAILS. (1) Engine mounting to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}740, maintaining the existing dampers between the crankcase and the frame. (2) Engine unit off the test bed No.3 unit with - (a) Improved oiling schemes LeC.3185, 3159 as at present. (b) R.R. semi-expanding carburetter. (c) Non turbulent cylinder head giving 6/1 C.R. (The existing head only give this with two C & A washers.) (d) Crankshaft damper to LeC.3149, altered to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}689 now on 2 P.2 unit with bronze dowels (as per Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}1/MJ.24.10.32.) load 12 lbs @ 17° rad. (e) Extra cyl. lubrication pipe deleted and connections blanked up. Thermostat bellows removed from oil relief valve. (f) Latest type distributor head. (The existing one is obsolete. The correct distributor is on 2 P.2 car). (g) Starter as per ist. 13-1 ratio. | ||
