( 2 ) The following day both cars left for Strasbourg taking the Autobahn as far as Ettlingen and left to go via Kehl to Strasbourg. The night was spent at Strasbourg and the return run made the next day to Paris. Total mileage for the whole distance corrected 5% for 5.50 x 18" tyres was, 1,000 miles. Maximum speed reached on autobahn was 120 m.p.h. as recorded by speedometer. Maximum oil temperature reached, 138°C. B-27-LE. was driven by Mr. J.F. Dugdale for a short distance between Sézanne and Paris. The car was driven by Sr. for all high speed work on road and Autobahn. Riding comfort in the rear of B-27-LE. was a little better than B-6-MR. Detonation continued to get worse, was apparent even on Azur fuel and indicated gasket trouble again. The same sparking plugs K.L.G.827 were used again and no trouble experienced. These have now completed approximately 2,000 miles on road and Autobahn, the hour run and all work at Montlhéry. These plugs also ran the T.T. race in 1936 of 408 miles non stop at 81 m.p.h. average speed. ---------- Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GR.{George Ratcliffe} | ||
