We send herewith N.Sch.4752 which shows:- (1) The clutch operating shaft moved back .125" to give more clarance between it and the clutch. There is now sufficient clearance to avoid any necessity to clean up the operating shaft bosses in the casing. (2) The operating lever lengths arranged to bring the adjusting link parallel to the link between the engine unit and the cantilever pedal bracket. The leverage of the operation is the same as is given by the 2.250" and 3" levers asked for by the Experimental Department. when allowance is made for different angular positions of the levers. Our N.Sch.4722 which showed a link for the Expl.Dept. levers must be cancelled as the link is not sufficiently parallel to the controlling link. The pedal plate loads are somewhat heavy due to the proposed use of springs which seem to us to be needlessly strong as they correspond to a coefficient of friction of only .158". We imagine that it will be found possible to use lighter springs. E/HDY.{William Hardy} | ||
