occur on pre-war cars fitted with C.I. pistons at L.I.City many of which have now run two or three years without replacement, and that these cars do give greater satisfaction in slow running, lack of crankcase dilution, etc. than the post-war cars.

The vibration which periods which can be noticed on 4.EX are due to our not having taken time to put extra springs in the slipper flywheels to accommodate the heavier pistons, It was above all things necessary to obtain road experience with this car, and therefore the new pistons were put in and the car immediately put on the road.

The aluminium pistons from 4.EX are not returned, having been fitted in an American demonstration chassis, 102-CE, the 4 ring pistons of which gave great trouble in slow running. With the 4-EX pistons fitted, and 1/8" liners as used on 4.EX after the first overhaul, this car is now operating perfectly. Galliator shutters were fitted at the same time. The car had a heated induction pipe and pin in throttle as originally turned out.
