P. 2. FRONT SUSPENSION
FOR DIAMOND MOUNTING.

x7005.

The scheme with side arms for the above - LeC. 2873. - was not in the final form as submitted. We were developing it to have split forging for central pivot.

The cross member was made 2.25 dia. partly with the idea of helping the frame which will be deprived of support elsewhere. We agree however that the 2" member will quite easily carry the unit.

We had considered using the wheelcase for support but rejected it for two reasons:

(a) Difficulty of removing bottom half of crankcase.
(b) Difficulty of removing wheelcase.

Seeing that 300 cars were involved we chose the side arms to the crankcase with tubular cross member a fixture in frame, rather than the side arms to the wheelcase with a removable cross member.

The scheme for fixing the side brackets to the wheelcase makes a more compact job. We are pushing on with this and will send a print of same as soon as possible.
