(COPY) N-W. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Technical - Starter Motors on 20 H.P. Chassis. ========= We have had several cases lately of trouble with the above where customers complain that when they press the starter motor pedal, although the motor rotates, it does not engage with the engine, and upon dismantling same it has been found that the cork washer has apparently disintegrated and small particles of cork have got on to the thread and made the Bendix drive sluggish. I enclose herewith a washer removed from such a case, and you will see what happens to the cork washer after it has been in use for some time. I shall be glad to hear if you have experienced similar trouble at "W", and if any steps are being taken to permanently overcome this. Br.{T. E. Bellringer - Repair Manager} | ||
