S/W. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}3/ES.16.4.40. Park Ward & Co. As you will appreciate, one of their difficulties is money now that the bulk of their energies are concentrated on war work. The Government departments, Municipalities and main Contractors for whom they are working, are all slow payers, whereas their pre-war business was virtually a ready money one. They have, at the moment, a fair amount outstanding in respect of completed war work and, in addition, R-R owe them about £2,000. Of this £2,000, about £1565 is represented by their accounts for the bodies for experimental chassis Nos. 2-R-2 and 3-G-VII, and for the repair of the body on experimental car No. 9-B-V.{VIENNA} I understand that all three invoices have been sent to you to be passed. Can you kindly give instructions for them to be dealt with immediately so that Park Ward may be paid. Possibly you may feel unable to authorise the passing of the invoices for the two new bodies because both are still in Park Ward & Co's hands, the completion in one case, and collection in the other, having been delayed. As Park Ward & Co. are not responsible for this delay, I suggest that if you feel you cannot authorise payment in full, arrangements should be made for a substantial sum to be paid on account. The main thing is that Park Ward badly want money and I hope it will therefore be possible to deal promptly with this matter. Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} | ||
