GV/YB X. 4215 le 25/3/21 - NOTES ON AUTOMATIC SWITCHES - "COMPENSATED TYPE" -------------------- Intercalation or suppression of our compensating resistance. One of the particularities of our compensating device consists to choice the very moment of "intercalation" or "suppression" of our compensating resistance. In fact, at the time of attraction of the armature, our compensating resistance must not be "put in" as soon as the attraction motion of the armature starts, because the "reluctance" of the magnetic circuit has not enough varied; it is exactly the same at the time of releasing of the armature, our compensating resistance must not be "put out" as soon as the releasing motion of armature starts, as the "reluctance" of the magnetic circuit has not enoug varied. In fact in such conditions the motion of the armature would be stopped at the time of intercalation (put in) or suppression (put out) of our compensating resistance. On the contrary it is necessary to put our compensation resistance "in" only when the armature arrives to its "attracted" or "working" position [strikethrough]and[/strikethrough] to put it "out" only when the armature arrives in its "released" or "resting" position, or, at least, to put our resistance "in" or "out" as near as possible of those two positions. This device is the result of rather long investigations, and has many very important advantages. . In fact the moviny speed of the armature is very great with our system. It is evident that it is desirable that the armature movement be as rapid as possible as well as accurate, from which amongother we obtain the "snap action" and there is no sluggishness in the working of our out out. | ||
