Four typical Micro Switch applications: (1) Auto-call warning signal; (2) G-M Laboratories Type E relay; (3) United American Bosch humidistat; and (4) electrical temperature control. BURGESS MICRO SWITCH The Switch of Many Uses The Burgess Micro Switch may be used to advantage wherever the actuating element has small movement, small force, or small total power, and in all cases where accuracy of control is important. It is also highly successful where the switching mechanism must operate in any position, and where vibration is encountered. These characteristics, combined with extreme compactness, light weight, and ruggedness, account for its wide adaption in equipment ranging from sensitive instruments to heavy machine tools. Operating Principle of the Micro Switch The operation of the Burgess Micro Switch depends upon producing an over-center action in the relative forces of two opposing spring systems and causing contacting silver plates to separate or come together with a positive snap action. This occurs when the operating plunger is depressed approximately .001 inch. The pressure necessary is approximately 14 ounces.
