- 3 - Srl/Crn.9.3.35. than straight "batting". The Open Tourer I tried with Hancock did not act at all in the same way on maximum as the cars we are having delivered to us seem to do. I remember that the Open Tourer was a very nice car to drive on maximum. I am very interested to hear that Standardisation Sheets for high compression cylinder heads and aerolite pistons have come through. I congratulate you for having found an extra 17 HP. I feel certain that this extra "kick in the pants" will be of great assistance to us over here with certain customers. As soon as I get back from a trip down South, I shall put the matter up to "Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}" in the manner you suggest. I agree with you with regard to the decision of the Board concerning Le Mans, and I am having a bit of a pickle with the powers that be trying to switch over H's entry to somebody else, get his money refunded, and keep the name of Bentley out of all the papers. With regard to Hispano, I am quite certain that I shall not be able to obtain a blue print concerning their induction system, but I am fairly sure that I shall be able to obtain a very good sketch and dimensions of same. I know that they have had a lot of trouble in getting this induction system right, and I understand that they are now quite satisfied with their latest creation. When I spoke to the "Solex" people they laid great stress on the fact that the design of the induction system was extremely important, etc., etc., and they told me of some of Hispano's difficulties in this respect. If I can manage it, I have a plan with a friendly coachbuilder to damage an induction pipe, then present his apologies to Hispano, and try to get a new one. I shall be delighted to see you when you come over, and am particularly pleased to know that you will be here quite a bit this Summer. I shall certainly have to make you a "commissaire" at Le Mans - I am going to tackle Faroux on this question right away !! I sincerely trust that this year the Administration will not prohibit a Bentley on the track, as they did last year. I certainly could not face the ordeal of taking a Continental round the course for 24 hours !! I trust that you are all well - please convey my kindest regards to Mrs "Em". How about champagne ? Do not think that I have ............. | ||
