For the attention of Mr. Martin-Hurst.

Dear Sirs,

We are considering incorporating a small diameter bellows for a control in one of our designs, which would need an effective area of approximately .3 sq. ins. From the last blue print list that I had from you many months ago it appears that your No.2 bellows would do very well. The amount of movement required is .125".

Although we realize that the bellows should be operated in compression, it does make the design much more simple by extending the bellows.

As at the moment there is a feeling against using a bellows because of the cost, could you let me have a nice, cheap quotation for 4,000 units. We should like the cost to include sweating the bellows to plates each end, but not to include the cost of the plates.

We should also like to know the required length of the bellows to give .125" movement, particularly for the case of the bellows which is extended.

Yours sincerely,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
