SUBJECT BUSES

Dear Sir:

The man in charge of the buses now operated by the United Electric Railways Company has just brought in a complete set of rubber blocks removed from chassis 47400. These blocks are the originals and this bus has now been operated for a period of 18 months with a total of over 100,000 miles.

Knowing your interest in this particular part of the Mack truck, we write to ask if you care to have these blocks sent you for inspection. The writer personally thinks that they are in wonderful condition, mileage and kind of miles considered. The United Electric Railways Company's man speaks very highly of the construction of the Mack bodies, compared with other makes being used by the Company. He also informs us that our heating appartus is far superior to the other makes.

He makes a suggestion which we will hand to you. They have trouble with the long pin used in the hinge in the center of the door. He suggests that a decided head be placed on this hinge at the top and after being put in the door that it be swedged at the bottom to prevent its riding up. He claims that vibration causes this pin, as it is now constructed, to wear at the top allowing it to fall, cutting into the step, thereby preventing the proper operation of the door. They have repaired several of those in use but makes this suggestion as a thing easily obviated when the body is being constructed.

Will you kindly advise if you wish us to ship these blocks to you.

Yours very truly,

MACK MOTOR TRUCK COMPANY
