460. To By/NS{Norman Scott} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux}3/JH.20.1.39. FIRST 50 SETS FOR B.V. PRODUCTION. The following can now be released - (1) Bijur tank. (2) Steering column L.O.P. FB.4496. FCD.979 Steering column head, but including mixture control which has been called for. (3) Side steering tube LOP.FB.4496. solid rear joint. (4) Cross steering tube LOP.4091. We are instructing for 9.B.V. Dashboard, mounting and arrgt. FCD.1101, 1093 and 1118, we do not wish to release this for production until it is complete on this car. Will you please hold up the following. (1) Axle pivots FB.4313/4. We have asked for a modification to the bottom drilling and a new cross plate which will enable the existing pivots FB.4051/2 to be used and obviate the need for altering the dies. (2) Rear damper arms FCD.1150. We wish to run the lightened arms shown with FCD.1099 on 9.B.V. and hope to be able to instruct these. The FCD.1150 arm would need an entirely different set of dies which would probably be scrap, whereas the lightened arm can be thickened up if necessary. (3) Links for front roll rod and bottom brackets. Further modifications to those instructed in By/HEB.{H. Biraben}1/WB.{Mr Brazier/Mr Bell}22.12.38. have been called for. (4) BZ linings for brakes.
