Mr. Brock.
C. EFC.

CHASSIS 30-HC.

Referring to A/M2/A.30.11.25. we notice that we have not got a complete unit of cut-out and distribution board back because Cricklewood were without Distribution Boards.

One assumes they must have taken a cut-out from a 20 HP. spare Board to fit up the New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I car under discussion. If this is the case, will they kindly return the 20 HP. Board which they have without the cut-out, for us to re-fit and will N. indent for two spare Distribution Boards and Cut-outs as stand-bys against a similar complaint in the future.

In regard to the cut-out returned, whilst we do not doubt that at the time the complaint was made the cut-out was not functioning, the facts of the case appear to be that when tested at the Works we cannot find anything the matter with the cut-out in question.

I am not going to assume, however, that the cut-out is satisfactory, and return it. Will Mr.Brock kindly fit up the cut-out to a distribution board and send it in to the Experimental Dept. and ask them to put it on a car and run it, keeping it under observation for a month, and then report whether they have noticed anything abnormal in the working of the cut-out or not.

If there is some fault in this cut-out, it would appear to be elusive, and this being the case, it is most important that we should find out exactly what has happened.

In regard to the charge against which the change-over should be made, until we have solved the problem I consider it should be Works' Policy.

Will Repair Dept. kindly distinguish between an electrical cut-out for a dynamo, and exhaust cutout for engine. The term "cut-out" used by itself is misleading. In fact, it misled me when I was asked the question by some other Department, to-day, when I assured them that I had no information at all about a cut-out, being under the impression they were speaking about the exhaust system.
