AVONMOUTH.

Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of your letter of the 21st.inst., for which we thank you, also we have received a letter and booklet on the N.S.5. alloy from your Commercial Dept.

This is particularly informative and judging by its comparison with normal Babbit in regard to its increased strength at high temperatures, it is well worth a trial run.

We have accordingly instructed that a set of main bear-ings shells be sent you for metalling with this Cadmium-Nickel alloy NS.{Norman Scott}5. and enclose herewith drawings of the finished bearing halves.

The actual shells will of course be sent uncut and when you have metalled in accordance with the drawings, we will carry out the bearing cutting and the final machining operations. Sufficient excess of metalling should be left for us to machine to the detail drawings.

We thank you for the information you have given us regarding this alloy and will be pleased to send you any further particulars which you may require in connection with the metalling of our shells.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
