Private Y3854. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Roy{Sir Henry Royce} H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Worl/T31.1.33. Re Road Springs. I quite agree that we should have the history of all the springs delivered for this particular type produced by the different makers, but it should be precise and comparable. For instance, we should not compare Firth's Springs, made in their superlative way, with Woodhead's, made in a much cheaper way. In short, we must compare springs that are made in a similar way. You are all, I am sure, impressed that we must get the costs of the Peregrine right, and we must persist in getting a cheaper spring of good quality that will satisfy us from people other than Firth's. It should be Roy{Sir Henry Royce}'s business to get us the springs quickly from Woodheads, that will compare with those supplied by Firth's, and I should be glad if he will report to me frequently what progress he is making in this direction.
