O.S. PETROL GAUGE.

We were interested in this gauge because it is free from the majority of the disadvantages of the Nivex. It works on the principle of a column of mercury on a gauge fitted to the dashboard. The advantages of this principle are that the gauge is constant reading, there is no pump by means of which the gauge could be strained, and the pressure range worked through is 19 times as great as that of the Nivex so that the gauge can be made robust and in consequence more reliable. We are arranging to have one of these fitted to one of our tanks for trial.

Record-breaking Renaults.

This car is rather interesting as an example of stream lining. The width of the body being only some 6" greater than that of the steering wheel width. The whole of the bottom of the chassis is stream lined with a continuous undershield. In consequence a massive oil cooler is employed between the dumb irons, even so the instruments show that an oil temperature of 115°C is considered normal when this car is on the track. contd:-
