1125 W/S. To G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} RD/ID. F/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. H.M./Lu/Std. E.1/HP.26.5.37. Driving Visibility. Further to E.2/HP.21.5.37 we regret that the blueprints were not sent with this memo as they were not ready. We now attach copies of N.Sch's 5136/7 showing the proposed designs, one being alternative to the other. It will be observed that in one case 3/4" is lopped off the height of the cap, and in the other case .925, the latter being N.Sch.5137. The lower cap is also a simpler job and less costly to produce, and as it is less liable to obstruct it possesses all the advantages providing the appearance is satisfactory. As previously pointed out the lower caps assume the deletion of the steam valve, and at the same time they reduce the height of the steam valve tower. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
