| COPY W.Watson & Co.(Liverpool) Ltd. Renshaw Street, Liverpool, 1. 28th October 1933. W.Cowen, Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., 14-15 Conduit Street, London, W.1. Dear Mr.Cowen, With reference to your letter of the 26th inst. to Mr.Watson regarding Bentleys for Dick and Geoffrey Summers. We have as yet one definite order from this family and that is from Geoffrey. He ordered a car tentatively over twelve months ago and confirmed it definitely two months ago. We reserved a January chassis pending seeing him about delivery and when we got in touch with him on this point he said he wanted the finished car in April and would take the chassis which was due in March. With regard to Dick Summers, I am at present negotiating with him for a January chassis, but he is extremely difficult to deal with and wants too high a price for his 1933 "95" Talbot. This family have bought so many cars and are in such close touch with the trade generally that they know all about discounts and work out their allowance prices so as to get an extremely high figure for the car which is to be taken in part payment. I have an appointment with him at our Exhibition on Friday, November 3rd, when the matter will be settled one way or the other. Apart from the two Summers there are two other Directors of the firm who use fast cars, viz. Mr. Rollason and his brother, but as Dick Summers buys for them the same difficulties apply. However, I hope to get the position cleared in a week or ten days. Yours faithfully, For W.WATSON & CO (LIVERPOOL) LTD. (Sd) C.H.Mickle Director. | ||
