Dear Fedden,

Mr. Cowen has just sent me a copy of your letter of the 2nd June, with reference to your car B-189-AE.

We think that a petrol consumption of 13 m.p.g. is rather low, and we cannot quite understand why it should be so, perhaps you will confirm this point at a later date. If it still persists we should like to have the opportunity of having a look at the car.

With regard to the knock in the transmission, this again is something which it is difficult to locate from your description. There is a slight rattle which takes place sometimes when engaging the clutch in 2nd or bottom gear; this is due to the synchromesh mechanism rattling, but perhaps you will be coming up to the Works yourself before long, in which case we should very much like to try the car with you. We did not get an opportunity before it left London.

Yours sincerely,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
