Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited,
DERBY.

Dear Sirs,

'For the attention of Mr. Robotham.'

With further reference to our letter of the 31st ult. we are pleased to inform you that we have today despatched - marked for your attention - one Water Type Automatic Jet Control.

We recommend that you fit this Unit in place of one of the circulat water jacket cover plates on the side of the engine immediately below the S.U. Carburetter. It will be necessary to employ a suitable packing piece, and we would ask you to see that there is sufficient clearance between the packing piece and Thermostat casing to ensure that the maximum area is exposed to the water. It may be necessary to employ a light spring loading (preferably adjustable for testing) should you find that the jet setting is too weak when the engine is first started from cold and the engine "ticking over".

You will note from the Blue Print in your possession that the gland consists of a rolling "Dexine" ring, and therefore when removing the set screw it is advisable not to part the cover plate from the Thermostat casing as this may damage the rolling ring.

We trust the above is quite clear to you, but should you experience any difficulties our Engineer will be pleased to call and see you at any time to suit your convenience.

Yours faithfully,
p.p. S. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LIMITED.
