Speed Kings Thrill Thousands

Dixon Skids His Way to Victory in Most Sensational Road Race Seen in Britain

200 m.p.h. “KING’S CUP”

Britain's two fastest and most thrilling races—the Ulster T.T. and the King's Cup air race—were watched by thousands of people yesterday.
They were given more than their fair share of thrills and excitement. Crash after crash occurred in the great road race with surprisingly few injuries. Higher speeds than ever were reached.
The feature of the air race was hair-raising cornering at speed on the three angles of the triangular course.

FREDDIE DIXON WINS T.T.

Cool Indifference To Amazing Skids

Freddie Dixon, in his home tuned Riley, won the Ulster T.T. race over the Ards circuit, at a speed of 76.90 m.p.h.

Meanwhile Freddie Dixon had worked his way into the lead. He smashed the class F record by lapping at 77.81 m.p.h., and was giving the crowds thrills all the way.
As he entered the square on his sixth lap turning the corner the car got into a tremendous skid and slithered right across the square, swinging completely round.

Dixon, never turning a hair, regained control and went on.
Later Dixon put up another new record for his class at an average speed of 78.55 m.p.h. though this again was quickly beaten by...
