SECRET. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/R.1.12.38. BENTLEY PUBLICITY. Herewith suggestions for giving the Bentley some publicity. On further consideration, we believe that if it were decided to undertake a 24 hour run at Montlhery, the best car to use would be the Paulin Bentley. We believe that Sr. could persuade the owner to loan us this car without difficulty. We should immediately put in hand another 48 gallon petrol tank, and, in the meantime, send the necessary cylinder head and carburetters over to Paris and establish the fact that the car could, with the increased power, lap at the required speed. The necessary modification to the drive ratio could be obtained by fitting an overdrive gearbox. Presenting the owner with this might compensate him for the loan of his car. We suggest that, if possible, Eyston should be asked to organise the attempt. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
