Messrs.Joseph Lucas Ltd.,
Well Street,
Birmingham.

For the attention of Mr.E.A.Watson.

Dear Sirs,

Many thanks for your letter of the 2nd.inst., reference EAW/VP. with sectioned condenser enclosed.

There is one point about this condenser which we note, and which we consider very important, and that is that the piece of Leatheroid inserted in the condenser between the condenser proper and its metal case does not appear to enclose the condenser completely up to its insulated top, and there would appear to be a possibility of short circuits occurring, due to the metal gauze fraying, and connecting the live foils to the earthed case.

It appears to us that if this Leatheroid was carried right up, the condenser would be reasonably safe. It may be, however, that the sectioned condenser you have sent to us does not clearly show the Leatheroid insulation, and we should be glad to have your confirmation on this point.

Otherwise we consider the condenser to be a very good sample and the best construction that we have seen up to the present.

We are returning the condenser section to you herewith.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
