-3- EFCS/AD9.7.30 contd. Straight series connecting link. The handle slot modification also provided for the use of a straight series connecting link in place of the curved connecting link previously used and has rendered this link identical for both R.H. and L.H. chassis batteries. A standardisation sheet for this change has recently been circulated. Further Modifications not yet adopted. Improved form of vent on P & R battery. The P & R Co. have proposed, and submitted for our test an improved form of moulded Dagenite vent with coarse thread similar to, and interchangeable with that of the Exide vent. We are testing this but have not yet finally proved its suitability for standardisation. We have noted that these vents are very good as regards the prevention of acid spraying, whereas a small amount of this still occurs in use with the Exide vents. Burnt up connections. We have arranged experimentally for two 6-volt units one each of P & R and Exide make and received these units, in which the two cell to cell connections in each unit are of the burnt up type in place of the bolted links. | ||
