EFC. P.A.73. 91298. March 30th 1921. X.4285 - PRELIMINARY REPORT ON U.S.A. BOSCH MAGNETO D.U.Z.6. As far as can be seen, there is little difference between this machine and the type Z.R.6 U.S.A. Bosch. It is lighter, the weight being 14.4 lbs. as compared with the 15.1 lbs of the Z.R.6. It has a large single magnet, instead of two smaller ones, while the additional earthing brush, in this case, contained in a brass holder screwed through the base of the machine. There is also a little difference in the design of the H.T. collector brush gear, wherein the conductor connecting the distributor to the H.T. brush makes a slip point connection to a terminal on the brush holder, thus allowing it to be easily removed; the brush-holder itself being secured by means of a screwed collar. The armature is enclosed, and no oilways are provided for the bearings, the lubricating wick for the distributor gear bearing also being absent in this machine. In other respects it is identical with the Z.R.6. C.A.P. | ||
