To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} & DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} at Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. c. to CJ. BJ. 457 R2/M2.4.26. RE. HIGH SPEED STEERING WOBBLES. X.457 X.235 7-EX MEDIUM PRESSURE TYRES. X.4565 X.8820 On car 7-EX we find we get these at the following speeds - at 30 lbs/sq.in. 65 m.p.h. at 35 " " " 70 m.p.h. myself driving to find them on three occasions. Probably they have come on because the front pivots are well oiled and worn very free, and the shock dampers have probably worn much freer after about 7,000 miles. In a few days we shall be fitting our hydraulic ones, and can confirm. The effect is not very distressing: one feels the vibration and reduces speed. I should e like a table made of different pressures, speeds and styles of tyres for the Phantom and India, and add the new lighter Phantom axle as soon as you receive it. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
