PY. FROM D.A. C. to SC. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} J.3. GEARBOX. DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}5/W.1.12.31. X5310. Herewith we send N. sch. 3384. This is the permanent sch. for the lubrication of the 25HP. gearbox, replacing the temporary sch. shewn on N. sch. 3374. It will be seen that the proposal calls for modifications to the external pattern, partly reducing the pattern and partly increasing it. We do not wish to cause any delay. Will Derby therefore please examine the modifications proposed, and if they think that they will cause delay we should like them to take N. sch. 3374., and using the wheels there given adapt this proposal to the existing pattern. The result of this will be that one of the wheels will approach the boss carrying the reverse shaft. This may be considered too close to be convenient, though we think not. If you decide that the modifications shown on N. scheme 3384. can be carried out without causing delay we should prefer you to do so, otherwise we are prepared to accept the modifications to N. scheme 3374.
