COPY. Y8770 OY2-E-7126. July 1st.1926. To: Mr. Beaver. cc Mr. Nadin. From: Mr. Olley. Visit from England. I do not know of anything of extraordinary importance that we require to know just now, of which we do not have ample information. England have been remarkably helpful in sending us all their drawings 'hot off the press', and Na{Mr Nadin}'s visit has helped us greatly in giving us their ideas both for now and the future. 1. Front Brakes. Principally we want to compare our first front brake job MX{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}-2 which should be ready about late August, with the Derby standards of front brake performance. For this it is desirable to have someone from Derby Experimental Dept. or Test, who will be able to diagnose troubles as they arise. Handwritten note: The brakes in production give very little trouble. Springfield should fit flexibility in servo operation. 2. Generator. Na.{Mr Nadin} is giving you a list of information we require on the 5-1/2 in. generator, dealing with the actual construction. 3. Motor We would like to receive advance particulars on the design and details of the new motor, which we believe is to be 5 in. diameter for the proposed flywheel-drive 'sequence-starter'. We asked for these last year, but they were not then available. Handwritten note: Sequence starter is a long way off at present. 4. Reaction Dampers. We would like whoever comes to take up with us tests on the reaction dampers, with Handwritten note: We recommend these are fitted. Contd. | ||
