Dear Sirs,

With reference to your letter of the 30th ult. We have run these brake linings 10,000 miles.

Our main objection to them is that they squeak badly. Their characteristics in this respect are so undesirable that it will be quite impossible for us to consider standardising them. We shall be stripping them during the course of the next week or so when we can give you a report on their wearing qualities, though in view of their other tendencies this is not of much interest to us.
